Why Now

An excerpt from an article appearing in Remodeling Today

Sometimes we allow forces outside of us to dictate our decisions, plans and actions. This has never been as true as it has been in this current economic climate. Unfortunately some of our decisions, especially those based on fear, hurt us more than they help us. Waiting to put our plans into action because we’re afraid of the economy may be the worst thing we could do.

Rather than lamenting that lemon that life or the economy has thrown at you, let’s look at how you can make lemonade.

Fortunately there are a lot of reasons to do that project now, especially if you choose a NARI member as your contractor. Now that the economy is slower and there are less people doing work, it may be easier to schedule your dream project. And remember prices will go up – so do it now before the costs increase.

As we all know, there are always ups and downs in the economy. For those of you who decide to go ahead now, you will not only end up with a home that is worth more in the future, but you will have added months and years of enjoyment of your remodeled home. For those of you with children, keep in mind that their childhood doesn’t last forever, so why not maximize their time in their remodeled home.

Now may be the ideal time to plan your dream vacation in your own home. Many years ago I was speaking with someone who had just completed work to her home. Her family was planning a two week vacation. When I asked where they were going, she said home. She said I now have the home of my dreams, why go anywhere. Look around and ask yourself what changes you would like to make so that your home will be more enjoyable to you and your family. These changes may include an upgrade to your landscape, a face lift to the exterior of your house, interior renovations that will add comfort and fun for you and your family, or even a complete remodel.

As you look around also keep in mind that the project doesn’t have to be huge to create the effect you need and want. A professional NARI member can help you create that vision whether it’s a large remodel, a medium sized renovation or a simple facelift.

Do it now so that you can enjoy it sooner.
